Biblical Economics

In my previous post, I noted that it is the duty of fathers to educate their children in the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). A related issue is the state of our economic system, as a nation and personally. The way our economy is organized today is focused on self, Paganism, and oppression to the younger generations (inflation, high taxes, low wages/ stagnant wages, interest, economic recession, unjust business regulations, etc.) Most of the profits in the USA are by big corporations, while small businesses struggle.

As Christians, what must we do to change the trajectory for our children and our children’s children? Firstly, is to make sure they are thoroughly trained in the Word of God, especially the gospel and Law of God (Deuteronomy 4:25-31). Accordingly, we must train them in Biblical Economics, not just merely masquerading Pagan business practices with thinly veiled Christian catchphrases or a twisted use of God’s Word (Amos 4:4-6). Secondly, we must take back the economy by Biblically governed and husband/ father ran small business entrepreneurships (Deuteronomy 8:18-20). As verses 19 & 20 say, we must not forget the Lord, not giving our time, goods, and profit growth to the ungodly pagan businesses. Rather, we must use all the things that the Lord has graced us with, as His stewards, to glorify Him and advance Christ’s Kingdom of the church in all the world (Isiah 60:3-9). We cannot be passive and let our nation plummet into an even more abominable estate. Each father, husband, and young man must set his heart and actions to this end. Pastors must train their congregations in Biblical economics and national reformation back to Scripture.
