The Gospel Providence of God: Forgetting Your Running Shorts

God is the Sovereign Lord over all of His creation (Psalm 104). In His predestined providential plan this morning, I forgot my running shorts, just a couple minutes after I left the house. After I realized this, I started planning on when I could return to get them, then I realized that I had no time. I then decided I would run when I got home this afternoon. But little did I understand the Lord's providential work at that time, for His glory and worship is worth infinitely more than my sin-filled selfish life.

After my first class, I saw one of my friends that messaged me earlier that morning who I did not get back a response yet. She asked me if I had truck, and I answered "Yes, what can I help with?" Then she told me about her co-worker that needed help moving some things from an old apartment to a new one, and that the co-worker was an unbeliever. This excited me, for I was thinking and praying how the Lord could use this opportunity to share the gospel of the Lord Jesus with this lady.

My friend an I messaged throughout the day so I knew the address and got everything planned out. Then, I headed to meet my friend and her co-worker. Let me back up, after my last class I went to the LBC library and printed off a gospel tract to give to the beloved co-worker, then I headed to meet them. We met at her apartment, loaded everything in the vehicles then headed to the new one. After we unloaded everything, we talked for a few minutes. Then as we were getting ready to leave, I handed the co-worker the gospel tract and prayed for everyone.

None of this would have happened, if in the Lord's predestined providential plan I had remembered my running shorts. But thanks be and glory unto the Lord, because from Him are all things, through Him is creation sustained, and unto Him is all His creation to worship and glory in obedience to Him (Romans 11:36).

I tell you this because we as Christians are commanded to disciple the nations, and everything in our lives is for the proclamation of the gospel and the establishment of God's Law (Matthew 28:18-20). Therefore, you and I as Christians must always be interweaving the gospel and everything that the Lord Commands in our conversations (Acts 4:31). Also, we must in boldness proclaim the gospel and Laws of God in public arenas, just as we see Jesus (Mark 1:14-15), Peter ( Acts 2:14-41), and Paul (Acts 20:17-21).
